Faith in religion drive many to uncompromising positions. Sometimes those positions are rooted in religious texts, and other times matters of interpretation. Justin was raised in a religious household, so the following quotations lean towards those books–referencing the King James Bible and ruthlessly pursuing the enrichment of the Book of Mormon; though he does not profess to represent the indoctrination of any religion by quoting their scriptures. By including bible verses and comments, as well as a link to atheism, he aims to avoid religious favoritism by his narrow exposure; but also to prevent shying away from the religious facing great wonder: To reconcile narratives with the timeless.

The beautiful thing, dear Justin, is that the thought of God ceasing to do miracles is anything but the truth. He loves and cares for us each individually and performs miracles time and time again, many I’m sure we never see or never know of. I would suggest you read the whole chapter surrounding that scripture [2 Nephi 28:6] as it clearly states that these are things that will be said by men and are not of god. As I tell my kids almost every day, if you look for the bad, you will see the bad, but if you look for the good, you will see the good. Only each of us individually can make that choice. This will be the end of me talking about this because you know I won’t argue with you, but it is something that means too much to me to just let this misunderstanding slip by. Take care.

Prophesy for our day to be current yes. But when it’s Elijah and he’s prophesying about their current wars and life it seems kind of moronic to disregard culture and life at that time. One needs to take in the whole picture to be able to arrive at a truthful interpretation. That’s why every time I read I learn more and more! What you’re saying is ego centered. You’re saying I am alive now and my time is the only time that matters therefore whatever was said in the past can only mean what it means in our current day! wow! Good luck trying to understand what Shakespeare means!!!! It’s like saying I only want to see this part of the prophesy but I don’t want to look at the whole picture to understand the whole truth. I only want the part that I want of it and that’s all.

As scripture references, they have always been used to argue. I won’t argue scripture especially when they r grossly misused. When I took my kids to the hill cumorah pageant there were all kinds of angry people yelling through their megaphones that we were going to hell and using only parts of scripture to take it out of context and argue their points. We walked through the angry mob and when we came to the hill there was beautiful peaceful music. I asked the kids how they felt when walking through the people and they said, “mommy I felt yucky in my tummy but when we got over here it went awayh and my tummy felt better.” One went on to say, “it’s like angels from heaven on this side mom!” That’s all the testimony I need…out of the mouths of babes. They recognize real truth (the spirit of God) much better than we do!

Awe you’re just jealous that kids are closer to the veil and recognize (feel the spirit) better than we can. Lol! Little children are much more pure than we are. I don’t belive that garbage about the devil preparing them. Be careful who you point your finger at with all your fire breathing judgements bc they will one day come back to burn you. Be careful when you call innocent children blind sheep who follow the son of perdition. Satan is real….yes. The atonement is our only life line… yes but to say all children are blind little followers of satan is grossly wrong.

Those people had stopped following the prophets (they stoned them), stopped praying, and stopped reading scripture. You left out a few details.

Where do you get the sexual orientation? Bc two men were lying in the same bed? If you look at culture back then, several men slept in the same bed. heck in Joseph smiths day several of his brothers slept in the same bed with him. Does that mean they were having sex? And grinding does not mean grinding like it does today, it meant wheat grinding. our culture is so obsessed with sex we take innocence and turn it sexual. I honestly thought you were a truth seeker, accepting everyone’s thoughts even if they were incongruent with your own.

If you believe in gay marriage, you don’t believe in god.

You had no right sending that link in connection to … baptism. It’s time for you to grow up.

your argument is the epitome of sanctimoniousness. You are showing your holier than thou feaux morality by trying to apply scripture from a religion you seem to have turned your back on. A very poor attempt of an application at that.

I could argue that leftists are the Gadianton robbers. Their policies are influenced by some rich people who what power over others, and they lobby the government to create regulations that favor and protect their interests, while shutting others out and keeping them from having success. In any case, no one by and large is out there murdering to get gain.

Here’s another scripture to take a look at:
    D&C 56:16-17
16 Wo unto you rich men, that will not give your substance to the poor, for your riches will canker your souls; and this shall be your lamentation in the day of visitation, and of judgment, and of indignation: The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and my soul is not saved!

17 Wo unto you poor men, whose hearts are not broken, whose spirits are not contrite, and whose bellies are not satisfied, and whose hands are not stayed from laying hold upon other men’s goods, whose eyes are full of greediness, and who will not labor with your own hands!
